Mr Lynch was working as a journalist and anchorman at the BBC when Operation Desert Storm dominated the news. He began to become aware of the gap between the real issues and the way they are represented to us and is now the Director of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney.


He is a founding member of the Peace Journalism commission of the International Peace Research Association. He writes weekly columns for the
Transcend Media Service.

Sohail Mahmood


Sohail Mahmood is the Chair of the Department of International Relations at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad, Pakistan. He has a Ph.D. with Honours in Political Science from Northern Arizona University. He has published several books and monographs on the politics of Pakistan as well as Islamic Fundamentalism.

Jan Oberg is the former director of the Lund University Peace Research Institute (LUPRI); former secretary-general of the Danish Peace Foundation; former member of the Danish government's Committee on security and disarmament.

He is currently the Director of the Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research and head of its Conflict-Mitigation teams to ex-Yugoslavia, Georgia, Burundi and Iraq.
